Wii shop Channel closing down in 2019
In 2019, the Wii shop Channel and its iconic music can come to an end.
A statement from Nintendo says that Wii owners will be ready to purchase content from the Wii shop Channel until January. 30, 2019. At some point after, Nintendo can close “all services associated with the Wii shop Channel, including redownloading purchased WiiWare, Virtual Console titles, and Wii Channel, as well as Wii System Transfer Tool, that transfers data from Wii to the Wii U system.”
Wii owners are going to be ready to add Wii Points, the shop’s currency, until March twenty six, 2018. Nintendo recommends Wii owners spend their points, re-download software and transfer games well ahead of the 2019 closure.
The Wii shop Channel launched in 2006 alongside the Wii. The digital store predated Nintendo’s eShop, that is available for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo’s Wii shop Channel music can live on elsewhere, including during this 10-hour loop, should you need it.
