Sony’s Xperia Touch projector - surfaces into touchscreens

What we’re talking regarding is a grand prix car that’s 103 years old. The engine block of the classic vehicle cracked some years ago and caused water to pump out of its exhaust system.

It’s the only Delage Type-S grand prix car known to still be on the earth. that makes it not possible to find replacement components when something goes bad.
That’s where modern technology was able to come to the rescue.
The car was consigned to a mechanic’s workshop in Australia to see what they could do to fix it. They turned to a pre-war motorcar engineer to find a way to build the 16-valve engine.
He came up with the thought of cloning the original engine block with digital technology. They scanned inside and out of the engine block with lasers. The scans were used to digitally repair the engine on a pc before making a sand mold with a 3-D printer.
The process really worked and therefore the Delage is operational again. Watch this video to check how the 3-D process took shape:
This repair is actually superb, particularly since the original engine blueprint is no longer around. It’s nice knowing that today’s high-tech innovations will facilitate us hold on to pieces of our past.

Project Loon cleared to assist restore wireless in Puerto RICO - My Page

In a report issued yesterday (PDF), the FCC said 83 % of cell sites in Puerto RICO are still out of service, along with 57 % within the us Virgin Islands and 100% in St. John. It also took the step of creating its hurricane Recovery Task Force that will work on restoring services to the islands.

While the Zika virus is primarily transmitted by mosquito bites, it might also be passed through blood transfusion. to ensure that nobody who wants transfusion within the USA gets infected, the USA Food and Drug Administration has approved the first test that can screen Zika in blood donations. The cobas Zika test will detect the virus' rna in plasma taken from donated blood and blood parts. It cannot be used to diagnose infection, but it will keep the country's blood supply Zika-free.
The FDA actually allowed some clinics to use the technique as an experimental method to screen blood donations back in 2016 when the virus started spreading in Puerto RICO. due to that testing period, the FDA was ready to prove that the test will indeed effectively and accurately spot the virus. according to further tests in 5 external laboratories, its clinical specificity (or the frequency in negative results in uninfected subjects) is 99 %. currently that it's officially been approved, clinics and hospitals around the country will use it to make sure their blood supply won't infect anyone with the virus.
FDA Center for Biologics evaluation and director of research Peter Marks said during a statement:
"Today's action represents the first approval of a Zika virus detection test for use with screening the nation's blood supply. Screening blood donations for the Zika virus is critical to preventing infected donations from entering the U.S. blood supply. Today's approval is the result of a commitment by the manufacturer to work rapidly and collaboratively with the FDA and the blood collection industry to respond to a public health crisis and ensure the safety of blood in the U.S. and its territories."
